On Monday 24 June, the Senior School Sports Awards Dinner was held at Abbot's Hill. It is an evening dedicated to celebrating sporting achievements, as well as highlighting individual successes. The evening is dedicated to everyone who has represented Abbot’s Hill in sporting activities and has showed commitment to the sports teams throughout the academic year.
This year, the guest speaker was Marilyn Okoro. Marilyn is a track and field athlete, competing in the 800m and 4 x 400m relay. She is a Bronze Olympic medallist, and has also achieved several other medals in her successful career.
Marilyn is an Old Girl of Abbot’s Hill, leaving the school 19 years ago. The pupils really enjoyed hearing about her time at the school and how it helped to set her up for her chosen career path and successes which followed.
Marilyn shared her inspiring story with the girls, showing just how important hard work and determination is. She also presented the awards to the pupils throughout the evening.
